Mission & Vision
Mission & Vision
Yonsei University School of Business (YSB) has clear vision and mission statements to guide its major decision-makings and daily operations. The statements were first developed in 2003 on the basis of the extensive collaboration and active involvement of significant constituencies of YSB. Since then the Strategic Planning Committee revisited and revised the YSB mission and vision statements twice to be consonant to those of Yonsei University. The most recent revision took place in February 2008.|

Core Objectives
YSB believes pioneering research and excellent education are interdependent components in accomplishing its mission. Enunciation of core objectives and respective implementation strategies are as follows:1. Pioneering Research
- YSB believes that placing strategic priority on pioneering research not only advances our understanding of the world of business, but also serves as a solid foundation for an exemplary education. In particular, YSB aims to gain its prominence in discipline-based, basic research. In achieving this goal, YSB will implement the following strategic directions:
-
- * Recruit high performance faculty
- * Improve faculty research performance
- * Enhance MS/Ph.D. students’ research capabilities
2. Excellent Education
- YSB is making major efforts in designing and implementing high-quality curricula to maintain exceptional standards in teaching. All YSB faculty members are expected to be sensitive to the needs of the students and to teach indispensable knowledge and skills using current and relevant curricula and pedagogies. YSB establishes a unique set of educational goals, i.e., (1) creativity, (2) integrity, and (3) global perspective, and conveys them to faculty, students, and other important constituencies.
-
(1) Creativity
- YSB aims to develop business leaders who can bring new values to customers and employees, plan new products, services, and business models, develop new methods to solve complicated and unstructured business problems, and become creative team players.
(2) Integrity
- YSB educates students to respect business ethics, to develop a mindset of corporate social responsibility, and to understand the importance of maintaining integrity in the role of global business leaders.
(3) Global Perspective
- YSB prepares students to become business leaders who can play an active role in the global market, analyze market situations, define contexts and influences in current and future business decision making, and capture new business opportunities in the world market.
- To accomplish the goal of excellent education, YSB pursues the following three strategic directions:
-
- * Improve education quality
- * Strengthen support services for students
- * Enhance education infrastructure
CONTINUOUS REVIEW AND IMPROVEMENT
YSB reviews the mission statement at least once every three years to ensure that the mission is relevant and practical. As an ongoing responsibility of the Strategic Planning Committee, the extensive process of receiving comments and feedback from diverse stakeholders has been integral to the improvement of the statements. The Strategic Planning Committee listens to opinions and comments from various stakeholders, which include faculty members, alumni, students, advisory board members, and the University administration. Information and comments on the existing mission and strategic plans are collected by diverse communication channels such as faculty workshops and meetings, student workshops, annual alumni conferences, and business forums with business leaders. Such information and comments are then incorporated into the improvement process.YSB’s Mission Review and Strategic Planning Process
